Beyond Reality

A moderated discussion with Toasterlab’s Ian Garrett and collaborators Beth Kates, Sadah Espii Proctor, and Paul Cegys, which will explore AR (Augmented Reality), VR (Virtual Reality) and how these creation modes can be integrated into or used as platforms for live performance in a 'socially distanced' world.

This panel is a must see for theatre producers and companies who want to make sure that the shows that they are creating reach audiences in interesting, engaging and beautiful ways.

It would be an understatement to say that the concept of 'performing live' has changed drastically over the past year and through this symposium we've talked a lot about how this shift has impacted digital creators, but what about the performers? This panel features Dakota Alcantara-Camacho, Emma Tibaldo, and Richard Lee, three artists who have performed live in this strange new world. How does being seen through the lens of the screen change the art of performance? What changes when you can't see the audience you're playing for? Join our panel of artist as they discuss the pitfalls and triumphs of performing in these new modes of creation.
Coyotes & Cheezies: The Integration of Animation Into Live Theatre

Kim Senklip Harvey's award winning work as a playwright, director and creator has been igniting conversations across the country. Join her and her frequent collaborator and video designer Emily Soussana as they delve into some of their shared creations and examine how to use projection not only as a design element but as a separate character with its own arc and track. Together they will also discuss their working practices, artistic methodologies, and how to realign traditional theatrical hierarchies.
